LaurenBeth Patrick-Mudd grew up in Los Angeles and received her Bachelor’s Degree from California State University Northridge (CSUN) in Deaf Studies. At CSUN, LaurenBeth studied to be an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter. After her first introduction to sign language in middle school, she was captivated by the language, community, and culture. While attending CSUN, LaurenBeth participated in a social justice group that traveled to Jamaica to teach children in a Deaf residential school. After working as an interpreter for over 15 years, LaurenBeth was determined to use her knowledge to contribute in a different capacity. Soon after, she enrolled back in school and graduated with her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University, May 2020.
While obtaining her Master’s degree, LaurenBeth gained experience in case management and creating social groups for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. LaurenBeth also spent time working as part of a stabilization team to house individuals experiencing homelessness and now finds herself working in detox and recovery since the beginning of 2021.
Throughout LaurenBeth’s journey, adverse experiences, and challenges, she developed a passion for promoting wellness. LaurenBeth is looking forward to being certified in EMDR therapy in the coming months. She aims to utilize holistic, individualized methods to empower the people she works with within their pursuit of living healthy and fulfilling lives.
