Commonly Abused Drugs
Some of the more commonly abused drugs are
- alcohol
- marijuana
- opium
- heroin
- stimulants such as cocaine, amphetamines, methamphetamines
- hallucinogens (LSD, mescaline, psilocybin)
- club drugs such as MDMA, GHB, flunitrazepam
- PCP
- salvia divinorum
- ketamine
Unlike prescriptions, these drugs rarely, if ever, have a legitimate use, and most are illegal, however, many states have laws now regarding legalized or medicinal marijuana, not to mention very addicting. Other commonly abused drugs that might have medical reasons for use, such as dextromethorphan (DMX) in a cough or cold remedies, also include anabolic steroids and inhalants.
